Five Things The Interior Designer Might Not Tell You!
Doing up a new home or an existing space can be intimidating. With planned expenditures, all of us look out for experts. Interior designers, armed with the precise sense of textures, patterns, colors, hues, arrangements and space, come to the rescue.
Now, deciding on an interior designer is a task, but it is even more important to be able to work in harmonization with them to bring out the best. While your interior designer will help your spaces dazzle, here are some things that the designer might not tell you.
1) You just need a brief consultation!
Sometimes, your space might already be welcoming enough and might need little or no intervention from the expert designer. All you need is a quick chat or consultation that will just be enough to give your space the ‘wow’ look. This happens rarely, However, the designer might not reveal this to you.
2) Magazines are just references.
So, you might have picked up the most beautiful interior scheme from a magazine. Great! Still, it is important to bear in mind that as glamorous as it looks in the photo, your interiors might not turn out to be that great, even after spending heavily.
3) The designer has preferences too.
Well, accept it or not, the designer has his or her personal preferences that show up in the design. With preference towards a certain style or inclination towards a particular color, the interior designer shall bring in his or her specific flavour. See if that works in your favor.
4) A ‘NO’ is acceptable.
A designer will never tell you this straight on! Since you have hired the expert, you owe them a ‘yes’ always is a misconception. The interior designer might know best, but if you disagree with something, be upfront to reject. Remember, designers are humans – they can take and, in most cases, do take a ‘No’ too!
5) NEW is not always welcome!
Your old sofa or your favorite paintings might still fit in into your new décor. While everyone loves to bring the latest and the trendiest touch to your home (sometimes, even the most expensive!), there are some classics that can well be utilized in your recreated space.
Hire the professional to do the magic, but remember to have your requisites communicated clearly. With you in the backseat, let them explore, experiment and express.
